Did you see it ? What did you think ?

I found most of the Amish in the show to
be obnoxious and whiny. I do not think I
would want to get to know any of the five
of them. The city kids ain't all that much
better, but at least they do not spend all
their time whining. I doubt I will watch it
again.

I saw it advertised but I have a hunch that maybe they are all actors as real Amish usually avoid worldly things such as TV's and being involved in this sort of thing.

Cyber, that is not entirely accurate.

Amish avoid OWNING much technology.. NOT using it. They will use phones (there are pay phones sitting in the middle of fields in our area for the Amish to use) but will not own them.

They will watch TV at other peoples homes and in the hospital. They will rent the use of tractors, they own and use gas-powered weed-eaters.

So, yeah, they WILL go to larger cities and happily use what they do not personally own.

The Amish have a very different culture. Their behavior appears rude to us because they do not have the same social "cues" and norms as we do.

If any of those city kids were mine, I'm smack 'em for behaving so rudely when the Amish kids came in. You'd think they'd been overrun by skinheads or aliens, from the reactions I saw.

This has got to be one of the stupidest "reality" shows ever come up with.

Except for maybe Trading Spouses.

Cyndi...that is exactly what I thought...the gay kid says in his interview that he hates people who judge others based on race...orientation, etc...and when the amish kids come in he's making judgements right off...all of them were...very rude.

I probably won't watch it again either...I was bored with it...unless there is nothing else on.
