I agree. The spicy scented candles seem to be the most pleasant. Anything else smells too perfumy.

Illuminations store had one called Pound Cake that I really liked.

I also like peach and some of the cucumber/melon candles.

Yankee candles make the best, I think.

I LOVE smelling a scented candle...but I have never found one to have a scent while it was burning.

My favorite is Glade Cinnamon Apple.

Thaddeus - Good point! Wink
I too love apple-cinnamon! Big Grin
I have other candles of many various scents, but the aromas just don't seem to linger. Maybe our house is too much of a challenge...? Red Face

Georgia - I'm guessing the reason you never smelled one while it was burning is because of your reaction to the $9 price tag. Unfortunately, good scented candles aren't cheap - but worth the price if you want them to smell great.

Two that I really like are Illuminations and Yankee Candle - all of them smell so nice when they are burning. My favorite are the aromatherapy type scents or the "earthy" ones...

Oh you are so funny Lydia... Razz
I'll have you know that I have received scented candles as gifts...and those silly Yankee ones as well as Aromatherapy ones...and I still have never smelled anything other than hot wax when the candles are burning. Unlit, yes they have a wonderful scent. Burning...nada...

At one time I strongly agreed with Lyds on the 'if you want the smell, you gotta shell' concept. I never enjoyed Yankee candles as much as I enjoyed Village candles. I only bought them because the store I worked in at the time sold them. My employee discount was the only way I could afford the $30 jar candles. And I think that no matter how much you shell out for votives, they never smell while burning. Anyway, I suffered from withdrawl of smelly candles for a long time after I quit working there.

Then one day I stumbled across some jar candles at Target. They were the big jars (comparable to the large Yankee or Village sized jars) with a price tag of $7.99. They smelled wonderful at the store, so I bought one, Evergreen I think. Got it home, lit it up, and WOW, talk about amazing aroma! I couldn't believe this cheap little jar candle smelled so good!

Unfortunately, I cannot for the life of me remember the brand. I will, however, go home tonight and check and will get back to you all! They are fabulous candles!!!

(Oh, and my favorite scents are bayberry, clove, pine....most anything earthy, but not floraly.)
