Personally, and no offense, but I really do not care for fair/carnival food. it is always way greasy or lacking in flavor.

When I was younger, I was never the kid begging my parents for an elephant ear or an icecream cone. I remember eating burrito's, nacho's and corndogs. That's about all I remember.

I had a Pepsi at the Portland Rose Festival last year and it tasted like it was run through a nasty dirty sock.

Although, at the same festival, I did have a really good pizza. It was made fresh right in front of me. It was delicious.

Smile I just LOVE funnel cakes! And as bad as they probably are for you, darn good thing I only eat one once a year or so Wink

Never have been a fan of corn dogs or cotton candy. I can hardly stand even the SMELL of the cotton candy vendors Razz

My number one can't miss at the fair is Indian Fry Bread. MMMmm....just thinking about it makes my mouth water! I also never miss getting a footlong brat and a chocolate shake from the dairy barn here at our fair. They are by far the best shakes ever!

Speaking of funnel cakes, has anyone seen or tried the IHOP funnel cakes? I don't care for them much, but got a chuckle out of the fact that IHOP was serving them for breakfast! Big Grin

Our fair is in fall (desert summer is not the best time for fairs) and the top foods for me there are the pit BBQ place which makes such great sammiches and the delectable Indian fry bread (I like either beans and cheese in mine, or on those times my sweet tooth is acting up honey and brown sugar).

I could USE a summer carnival right about now--about 18 degrees here this AM! Eek The fried dough with a good Italian sauce has to "take the cake" as far as carnival foods are concerned..
Cool

Haven't been to a fair in years, but it was always the elephant ears. As many as you could hold. Just before you went on the rides. To see how much you could eat before you threw up on the rides. Big Grin Believe me, one can eat a LOT of food and never throw up while on even the wildest of rides. Red Face Eek
