Do you choose your choice of words or advice based on who you are posting to or do you post mostly the same way to everyone?
Do you think most people understand your posts or are you often misunderstood? If you are misunderstood, why do you think that is? Do you think the way you post reflects your true personality? (If I met you, would you be the same way as you present yourself here?) <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not. ~Author Unknown~ |

It makes no matter to me whom I am posting to; I don’t alter myself for anyone
I think most folks understand what I am saying, to the ones that don’t I feel my posts reflect my personality. If we ever met Clare I would indeed be the same as presented here ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And their Wall shall stand forever So long as freedom shines On the splendor and the glory Of the Carolina pines. |

Clare, was this post misunderstood and that's why you went back and changed it?
I'd say for the most part my posts don't change from person to person. I would like to think that my posts are understood. I know that when I am answering a question at AP I try to be factual while using easy to understand terms. And when possible, I post a link with further information. When I am answering relationship questions at HP I rely on my own past experiences and my ability to analyze - to post forthright answers that are not sugar coated. And I think, because of this, I tend to come across as cold hearted and non-emotional. I don't feel that I am misunderstood and I feel that my posts reflect my personality. And because of this, I believe some might be intimidated by "tell it like it is" attitude. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, and then beat you with experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

You post faster than I can type the question. You're good! <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> It's not who you are that holds you back, it's who you think you're not. ~Author Unknown~ |

I don't choose my words based on who I'm posting to. I'll say what I believe to anyone.
I think most people understand my posts, but maybe a few times, I've been mis-understood, but I think that's because of other person's own insecurities. The way I post reflects my true personality, but if you meet me, I admit that I am very shy, whereas in writing, I am not shy at all with words. ~~~January 20, 2009....The End of an Error~~~ |

I choose my words carefully when posting. I try to keep conversations intellectual but will tone it down some for dummies. Most members are adult and are versatile in reality, then there are those in the minority who will interpret what you say to fit their mood.
There is select group that do know where I am coming from. These are people who are able to laugh and have fun and don't walk around all day with a dark cloud looming above their head. I think I am misunderstood by people who are miserable with themselves and the world around them. I think people who lead boring worthless lives who have absolutely no reason to laugh find me very very annoying. I am a bit more subdued on DP then in real life. The older I get, the more I realize that life is too short to take it all that serious. I think my less then serious attitude really got a jump start after my bout with cancer. I did quite a bit of reflection on how I lived my life in the main stream, my strech of service during the Viet Nam war, career goals, family problems. It all got me a great head of grey hair. Yes I am the same person in real life. If you meet me, I'll be the one wearing a smile on my face. |

I do not really speak to people in the
real world, so you might not know me as being anything like the posts I make. I am the same person, just very uncomfy around people. I doubt people tend to misunderstand my posts as I do not try to hide my feelings. "Get your kicks on Route Six-Sixty-Six" |

It doesn't matter what I say. Somebody is always there to twist it around.

quote: I think I am consistant in the way I post towarrds everybody here. I just say what I want, how I want, and most of the time people understand what I am saying. People... well, I'll admit that I think people online are themselves, yet not themselves. People who are apt to say little in person may find this easier, largely due to the fact that this is by far more anonymous. I think that I would, even though I am slightly shy in person, pretty much remain consistant with what you see here on DP. Matter of fact, you'd probably get to know me much better through meeting me in person rather than online, since being shy in some areas more than others can be applied here too (ie being shy online and more outgoing in person). ___________________________________________________________________________ Ever wonder if illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? |

I tend to be a lot more lighthearted in real life than I am on the boards as I tend to feel there are always a few people who see themselves as long suffering martyr's with their inflated opinions of themselves, who won't like my opinion-but that is the beauty of the pool. Everyone can have their say.
