I have only the fake trees these days. I used to get a real one, when my wife was living, but since it's just me now, I don't bother. I don't live anywhere, now, that sells real trees and I'm not about to go to the bother of going out of my way to buy a real tree.

Smile never thought I'd do it ..but last year we bought our first fake tree...and I love it!

You can even get those little plug-in air fresheners that smell like real pine..so all this works well here. Smile

Always a real tree! Sometimes a tree we went out and cut (either on private land or public land with the appropriate permit) Sometimes a live tree...Only one year of my adult life did I ever buy a tree.
The live tree from two years ago is now flourishing in our side yard (That was our first Christmas in our own home),Back when I was a renter, I donated my live trees to parks, schools,Habitat for Humanity and churches.
The cut trees make a lovely January bonfire, especially when neighbors join in and add their trees.

We have had both in past years....I love the smell of a real tree, but the last few we had were so dried out by Christmas Day that we were afraid to turn the lights on...I think they cut them down too early...We did cut our own one year and it lasted....the real ones also got expensive and the fake ones got so real looking we opted to go for a fake....The last 4 or 5 years we haven't bothered at all.
