Same question

During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at bats a season. That means I played seven years without ever hitting the ball. ~Mickey Mantle, 1970

Zero times. And no, that doesn't mean I'm an ugly lesbian. Razz Marriage is a MAN-made demented institution that is unnecessary, irrational, and the main avenue used throughout history to oppress, abuse, and kill the spirit of women. Eek

Used to love boxing--when it was WORTH watching...now (with the NBA a JOKE to watch), I'd have to say football or baseball--depending on who's involved..

The dud of a Final Four this year excluded: college basketball. I also love to watch lacrosse in person.

Have you turned on your home air conditioner yet this season?

Depends on what time of the year it is. Right now, windows down. In like, two months, air conditioner on as it will be over 100˚. Ugh.

What is the last book you read?

I love to read so I'm always finishing and starting books. I am in the middle of reading "The Codex" by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and I just finished "Digital Fortress" by Dan Brown. Looking forward to the Da Vinci Code movie in May but I know Hollywood won't do it full justice.

Who else likes to read? Same question.

Do you like crosswords or or some word puzzle?

I enjoy logic puzzles. For me, they keep the saw sharp (OK, just this side of dull!). I am glad to see the Sudoku and Cross Sums crazes because it is easy to find them in stores now.

I like 'Word Search'-type puzzles as I help students with them on occasion; keeps me sharp..

What board games did you enjoy as a child?

My sisters and I would play Monopoly, Life, Mystery Date Roll Eyes, Password, checkers, dominos. We'd also make up our own versions of things: using a stand-alone blackboard, we'd play certain games from "The Price is Right" or draw streets, buildings, and parking lots and play with little cars on it. I used to often beat my classmates at Battleship and Connect Four when we'd play games on Fridays (I opted to stay inside and play board games, NOT to play sports outside).

As a kid in the '70s I also liked: Fisher-Price playsets (the castle, house, school, and town); Spirograph; Magic Slates; ViewMaster reels; cartoons and the Little Rascals; KISS and Queen; my sisters' 16, Seventeen, TigerBeat, and HitParader magazines; Barbie dolls (including the dark-haired Ken doll); a Native American yarn doll; and my prized Mrs. Beasley doll.

Same question.
