3 years ago crossing the Irish sea Dublin to Liverpool on the Seacat at 40mph! (really) am hopefully doing the same trip later this year?

Note I see on Google that nothing like this operates in North America Frown (They double up as a car ferry) unless somebody can tell us something different?

Do you get Travel sick or what does make you Travel/sea sick? With me it's processed cheese Frown

I have never, ever been sea sick or experienced motion sickness of any sort. I have spent a lot of time on boats and ships in really nasty weather too. The only inconvenience I experienced was a lack of sleep. It is kind of hard to sleep in 40'-50' seas. I was even the one who had to clean up the remnants of a couple of friends on a deep sea fishing trip in Aruba several years ago Eek . (They were going to charge a "cleaning fee" for the mess they left in the head Mad )

We have some high speed ferries around here. The Sea Jet is a high speed ferry that takes those gambling folks from Long Island to Connecticut. Wink
(click on the link, then "Fleet" then "Sea Jet")

There is talk of getting more to go from Manhattan, New England, and central Long Island, but they are not here yet Roll Eyes .

During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at bats a season. That means I played seven years without ever hitting the ball. ~Mickey Mantle, 1970

The only thing that has ever made me sick to my stomach while traveling was my three sisters' incessant singing of "One Tin Soldier" (theme from Billy Jack) during a 10,000 mile automobile tour of the United States during the summer of 1973.

What is the last thing you built or put together yourself?

OOoooOOo building stuff. I love building stuff!
Over the past month I have built / put together several things. The last two:

A new gas barbeque. (Record time I might add Wink )

The last thing I dissected was a 1967 Evinrude 6hp Outboard Motor. There was nothing really wrong with it asides from the flywheel feeling "tight" but once I get started,,,Roll Eyes
Runs better than new now Big Grin !

I don't receive a daily paper anymore. I found I had no time to read it. I do get a local biweekly paper. Most of my news I get from TV and the internet.

You are craving a sweet snack. What do you reach for?

Rainmaker, for years I was the recycle man's nightmare. I was putting out 2-3 baskets full of papers every two weeks! (I averaged 5-6 newspapers a day) I also never subscribed to any local newspaper. (I buy them on the way to work) They would always deliver the "early" edition that severely was lacking in the sports departments Razz .

I reach for Ice cream! Carvel preferably, but I am not too picky when it comes to ice cream Roll Eyes .

Sure have Fuse, an old abandoned cemetery was a well know "Lover's Lane" around here. That is if you could talk the girl into going there. Comforting them seemed to help Wink .

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Suprisingly never despite the many times my car has broken down. I'm even in a club at work called the Crappy A@@ Car Association (CA CA) for those of us with crappy cars.
Thankfully, I've always been able to get assistance or call AAA (Emergency Car service for those not familiar).

What was the most amount of money you shelled out to pay for repairs to your car?

Not me personally My brother had to find the equivalent of $750 to repair his car(Ford Escort Diesel) after the cambelt broke wrecking the engine while he was on Vacation in Ireland. Left him skint. He then had to drive 100 miles to Dublin, plus the Ferry trip plus 20 miles Home and He was back in work 2 days later and he needed the car as his workplace is isolated 20 miles round trip daily.
He junked it 6 months later Now drives a Mazda 323
Have you ever had an electric shock? Eek
If so, off what sort of thing?

I've never had a major electrical shock. The time I really remember is when I was working at the grocery store as a cashier. I had one hand on the metal counter and I placed my other hand on the metal grocery buggy. The charge went up one arm, across my chest, and out the other arm. The was a feeling I will never forget. I think that was just static electricity but it really hurt.

When was the last time you had a picture taken of yourself?

Shocked, why I have been electrically shocked many times, some were even intentional Roll Eyes . The dumbest shock I ever received was when I decided to cut (with a pocket knife) what I thought was an input/output cable to an old turntable. It turned out to be the power cord. It was only 120VAC but the short caused my knife blade to melt about ½ way through and set me on my butt about four feet away, complete with blackened hand. (About 25 years ago)

More recently (about six years ago) I was using a reciprocating saw to remove the plywood floor in my bedroom and cut through a 220VAC line for the downstairs stove that was installed incorrectly. (Not by me!) That jolt completely disintegrated the blade and ruined the motor on the saw. Not to mention the blackened fingernails Roll Eyes .

Thankfully for me the stove was not on. Voltage does not kill, amperage does Wink !

Opps,,, Oh, and I have never taken a photo of myself Rainmaker.

Have you ever been thrown into a swimming pool or off of a boat against your will?

Off a boat - not yet! Wink
Into a swimming pool: In '74, I was at the pool at my friend's apartment. Every time her husband walked by me, he pushed me in. Finally, I saw him headed my way, and I just jumped in! Razz He looked around puzzled and said, "What? I didn't do anything!" Big Grin It was funny!

Are you an organ donor?

Yes I am. Take what you need and dump the rest in the ocean. I do have a stipulation that my organs can only be used for direct transplants. Not for teaching. I held out this long so in death I want to make sure no part of me ever ends up in some prestigious university Wink .

I am in agreement with you Koz I'd give my organs away as a Life saver not for research
I do carry a card (comes with my driving licence)

Heres a good one How many driving tests have you taken?(and what did you fail on?)should be a separate topic? Big Grin
I've taken 1 car test. Failed trying to drive it like a motorcycle! Red Face(X's all over the Fail sheet)And being too cocky!
2 motorcycle tests. 1st test failed because I pulled out in front of a police car on a blind junction!!(and 1 minor fault) 2nd test almost failed for taking my time negotiating another blind junction. But when I explained why I did it the Penny dropped and the examiner laughed and said " OH So It was you who caused the cop to slam on the other day!" and passed me. Razz Most of the examiners are ex police drivers .
