My great grandmother once told me that I don't look like anyone in the family! As I've grown older, I've begun to look more like my mother. Unfortunately, I did inherit my dad's poor eyesight and teeth.

Keep it going! Same question.

I definitely look more like my mother, more like her father, and am a near look-alike for one of her uncles at my age.

Let's do it again: do you look more like your mother or your father? Confused

From Carvel of course. I don't like layered cake, actually the only "sweet" I like is ice cream, and boy do I like ice cream Roll Eyes .

Are you doing anything special this first day of summer to celebrate its arrival? Cool

The Mrs. and I have had odd and hectic hours of late, and celebrated summer's arrival by doing something simple that should not be unusual: making dinner together at home.

How many cordless phones are in your home?

Two, one on the main floor one on the second floor. We do keep "old fashioned" rotary phones in two bedrooms though. I got them for nothing, refurbished them and they look and work great, even when the power is off, unlike the cordless phones Wink .

What was the last thing you ate?

Crusty, eaten with butter while still warm!

Do you normally purchase a new or a "previously owned" vehicle?

I don't purchase vehicles on a regular basis. The last two vehicles we purchased were new. (2000 Chevrolet van, 2001 Toyota Solara) We will probably purchase new vehicles again when the time comes. I promised to keep the van ten years, or until I run it into the ground. I am half way there on both tasks Wink .

Do you plan on buying a vehicle in the near future?

Yes, my husband and myself are looking to buy a 4 x 4 some time before the Va. mountain snows come. Will probably start looking around October or so.

When was the last time you rode a roller coaster?

Last summer I rode several at Bush Gardens in Virginia. I was supposed to ride the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world (Kingda Ka in New Jersey) a couple of weeks ago, but it closed down three or four days before our scheduled trip due to some pieces falling off of it Razz . Our trip was cancelled at the last minute. (We were packed & set to go when I checked the web site to see what time the park opened and found out Roll Eyes )

Have you ever ridden those traveling carnival rides? If so, what one?

We go to the Dixie Classic Fair every year and enjoy lots of rides produced by a traveling carnival company on the Midway! Some I recall:

- Ferris Wheel
- Bumper Cars
- Pirate Ship (the thing that rocks back and forth)
- Zipper (OK, so the kids ride that one)
- Space Ship

Have you ever driven a vehicle that had to stop at a weigh station?

Not me personally have some near neighbors who drive or used to drive Heavy Goods Vehicles(and Buses) that do use public weighbridges

This should be interesting (mileage wise) ...
Topical question
It's a nice day you want to go to the beach/seaside..
As the crow flies( In a straight line) how far will you have to travel? Roll Eyes

I'm about 4 miles, though it's nearer 9 miles when taking the road routes into consideration Roll Eyes

I am not sure what you mean by where the place I call home is. Having traveled all over and called many places home I go by the Metallica premise of " Where I lay my head is home Wink ". (Home is where the heart is Big Grin )

Now where I was born, that's different. I was born on the Lower East Side on Manhattan Island, now live on Long Island, about 30 miles east of my birthplace.

To answer Mike's question too (cause I feel like it Razz ) to get to a tidal marsh / harbor as the crow flies it is about ¾ of a mile away. The Long Island Sound is about two miles away, (2 ½ miles by car.) The Atlantic Ocean is about 10 miles away as the crow flies, and almost the same by car. (Long Island is indeed long and narrow Cool )

When was the last time you were on a ship or boat?
