Dave and I were compiling our own Top 5 list of Rock & Roll guitarists.....We've got 4 so far....who do you think should be #5?
(in no particular order) 1. Carlos Santana 2. Eric Clapton 3. George Harrison 4. Jimi Hendrix 5. ??? *********** Ever notice how the people who tell you to calm down, are usually the ones who pissed you off in the first place? |

|
|
|
5. Johnny Ramone
And my top 4 - 1. Jimi Hendrix 2. Jimmy Page 3. Stevie Ray Vaughn 4. Jack White (oh, he's tested enough...) |

Jimmy Page might just make my list...I consider SRV to be more R&B than R&R, however.
The others I'm not that familiar with....we must be too old, I guess. Any others, anyone? *********** Ever notice how the people who tell you to calm down, are usually the ones who pissed you off in the first place? |

Randy Rhoads is a great choice!

Definitely should be Bryan May of Queen.

I don’t know about #5, but without doubt #1 has to be Steve Morse.

Nice. All those are very good arguments for Top 5. All of them.
But.......what's your #6 CHOICE ?????? Without a blink, I would have to say Kirk Rundstrom of Split Lip Rayfield. Here he be with the other boys - check 'em out some time |

My two cents worth:
Hendrix Stevie Ray Vaughan Steve Vai Ritchie Blackmore David Gilmour Many other great choices above... _____________________________________________________________ The trouble with political jokes is that very often they get elected. ~ Will Rogers |

If the list expands to six, I must include Duane Allman. I would have had him in the top five, had I been thinking.
I have never met any of his relatives, though. ______________________________ Don't taze me 'bro!!!! |

Yankees15, you read my mind
Number five has hot to be The Edge! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The more you see the less you know The less you find out as you go I knew much more then Than I do now. Five is almost impossible--Top 20 would be more appropriate with SO many good ones..Most of the "guitar gods" have been mentioned (I've seen 'em all)--perhaps one name missing that should be toward the top is Neal Schon of Journey/Santana fame..

First, we would have to agree about the question of "What is Rock and Roll"...after that issue is resolved,I'm with Bob, 5 is too few, even in no particular order, but Jerry Garcia's name would have to appear somewhere.

Anyone who's listened to some of the early Chicago albums would have to agree that Terry Kath was a "monster." Jimi Hendrix once remarked that he WISHED he could play like Kath; pretty strong compliment...
